User Consent screens for fluege.de Android App

for Mobile and Tablet

The Problem

In Dec 2021, a new data protection law came into force- TTDSG.

Currently, there is no transparency of tracking technologies in the Android App of fluege.de, nor there is an active consent process.

The new section 25 TTDSG now explicitly regulates that tracking technologies generally require consent, regardless of whether personal data is processed.

The Solution

To create the necessary transparency about tracking and to ask users for their consent, we need to implement a new consent flow with underlying consent logic in the Android app.

We will introduce onboarding with the following steps:

App discount with the welcome screen

Data privacy information and acceptance

Customisable Privacy settings

With the help of the consent dialogue, the user can give his or her general consent or rejection to the tracking or activate/deactivate individual tools.

Previous Screens

There were no screens/ designs available for the Android App. But there were screens provided for the iOS onboarding introduced in 2021. I was provided with an option to use the existing screens for Android with the required adaption for the new screens. But my team and I decided to change the entire UI to make the app more intuitive and simplify the design for the users. It worked out great and now plans are on to provide a similar interface for iOS :)

Final Screens

Welcome screen

The welcome-dialog box with the app voucher appears after the splash screen.
When the user clicks on "WEITER/ Continue" button, the screen to provide "user consent" appears which is followed by a brief description

The data protection settings are categorised into two sections- Required and optional

If the user would like to know more info regarding data protection, the user can click on "DETAILS ANZEIGEN/ Show details" button.
